Students from UVU came to get students excited about writing to pen pals in Fiji. They told students a bit about the culture and what kind of things the students could write to them about. Students from UVU will soon be visiting Fiji and helping at a local school, where they will take letters from students and bring them back when they return. What an exciting opportunity to see what things are like half a world apart.

Despite being scheduled for April 1st, students went to the Bean Museum at BYU.

They watched two different shows. One on invertebrates and the other on ecosystems which is part of third grade core for science and social studies. Students had fun looking at all the animals and learning things they did not know. For instance the Arctic Fox is white in winter and blue and gray in the summer.

Third grader, Daniel Lopez took third place in Utah County, for her entry to the Farm Bureau’s contest for stories for "A Day In The Life Of A Farmer". Daniela a student in Mr. Lai’s class at Spring Lake Elementary won a $15 dollar prize and is pictured here with Belva Parr. Mr. Lai’s class was also given a free book and supplies for making corn necklaces for their third grade science unit on living and non-living things.

Students from Spring Lake Elementary took part in Nebo School District Chess tournament at Art City Elementary. Congratulations to Daniel Havens, Spencer Worthington, Zac Springer, Nick Springer, Brendon Earl, and Travis Pitcher for bringing back the 9th place trophy.
