Spring Lake Elementary Playground Get Repainted

Submitted by doug.lai on

Blake Olsen, with the help of his family and friends from Troop 1607, completed his Eagle Scout project by adding a 100's grid and an additional four square game to Spring Lake Elementary's playground. They also repainted the U.S. map with bright colors and repainted the basketball courts, four squares, and hopscotch lines. Spring Lake teachers and families are very grateful to Blake and troop 1607 for all of their hard work in creating a playground that students want to play on.

SFC Pettijohn is currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma Washington as part of the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team where he is the platoon sergeant for an intelligence analysis cell. This will be SFC Pettijohn’s fourth overseas assignment in his 12 years of service.

Sixth-grade Studies Egypt

Submitted by doug.lai on

Students in Mrs. Erica Fordiani's class at Spring Lake Elementary recently mummified one of their classmates as part of their unit on ancient Egypt. After pretending to take out his internal organs and then his brain through his nostrils, students wrapped and decorated him in amulets and a death mask. The "mourners" followed behind their newly mummified Pharaoh as they walked around the halls of the school (much to the delight of the other grades).
