Submitted by doug.lai on Mon, 11/30/2015 - 16:18

In an effort to get more likes on Facebook please click on the following link to vote on a name for our mascot the Hawk. Each week he will be somewhere in the school, and students will have to guess where. You will have to look at the picture on the Facebook page to see the picture, and submit the guess. We will them select at random from the correct answers for a prize. For those that have already liked us on Facebook we will be having some random drawings for prizes as well. You can increase your odds by getting more people in your family to "Like" the Spring Lake Facebook Page.

Submitted by doug.lai on Wed, 11/25/2015 - 19:41

Tuesday third-grade students celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast. They ate one the other side of the gym, with their placemat's they made, and Indian and Pilgrim hats. After they had a slice of pie each, and then later in the afternoon had a turkey bowl. They knocked down 2-liter bottles with frozen cornish game hens as bowling balls. Thanks to all those parents that donated items to make it a memorable day.

Thanks to the Spanish Fork Rotary Club and Zion's Bank of Payson. They came by with over 130 dictionaries for the third-grade students. Student's searched for a few Thanksgiving words. In the Spring, the classes will have a spelling bee to see who can spell like a champ. The dictionaries are a great addition to our classroom, as students work on writing this year.

Health and Safety Week

Submitted by doug.lai on Sat, 11/21/2015 - 12:00

It was great to see so many students participating in our Health and Safety Week. Most students had their name in for the drawing several times. Thousands fo tickets were handed out. Students made great choices at lunch, were moving at recess, and most important came to school safely. Thanks to all those that helped with this week, parents, PTA, and the Payson Police Department. Let's not forget to do these things all year though. Everyone has to do their part: parents, students, and teachers all play a role in being healthy and staying safe.

As part of our Health and Safety Week students had a special treat Tuesday as Just Jumpin' came to visit. Just Jumpin’ is sponsored by the Intermountain Healthcare LiVe Well program which is established to help promote people to live the healthiest lives possible. It doesn't matter how you move, you just need to be active. It was amazing to see all of the neat tricks and possibilities jump roping. At the end of the assembly, several students and teachers also got involved. So parents if a jump rope is now on your child's Christmas list, you know why. Remember to stay active.

Health And Safety Week

Spring Lake kicked off their Health and Safety Week with an assembly talking about safety. There has been some concern about students at bus stops, and students riding to school, as well as those being dropped off. Officer Monson came and talked with students about being safe on their way to and from school. Mrs. Jewell from the PTA was there handing out tickets to students. They will be entered into a raffle on the assembly on Friday where a bike will be given away, as well as other prizes. Please make sure to talk with students about being safe nd making healthy choices.
