A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens was put on using Bon Ra Ku Puppets, on Friday, December 9th, 2011.

Bon Ra Ku originated in Japan. Puppets and Puppeteers are right on stage and in sight of the audience. The puppets are operated by two or more people, and sticks are used to move the head, arms, and feet. Puppeteers are usually dressed in black and hooded, which aids in blending into the background.

Mrs. Howard’s art students  created the puppets and learned how to perform with the puppets.  They put on a show for the whole school and parents.  Over 40 students were involved in the program with puppets, vocal parts, lighting, and creating sets.  It was a great hands on experience for the students.
