The week of February 21-24th. Spring Lake Elementary celebrated their second annual bullying awareness week. The week was kicked off with an assembly put on by “Be The Change” from Payson High School. They discussed that even though everyone is different there are many things that we can all have in common. Interest or hobbies or which animal we like. A skit was shown of what happens when we bully and how we can make it better.  Students signed posters pledging not to be a bully at the end of the assembly.  The PTA sponsored several dress up days. Tuesday was wear camouflage or hat day. Wednesday was mismatch day, and Friday was Hero Day. Students were encouraged to be a H.E.R.O. by Helping Encourage and Respect Others. Two bands were given to each class to be passed around to students that were helping others. Some sixth-grade students were also involved with the PTA which made 3 video that were shown in classrooms during the week that explained what bullying is, how it makes people feel and how we can stand up for others being bullied. Students were also encourage to memorize the No Bullying Pledge which states: I will not take part in any actions that purposely hurt another person. I will join with friends to stand up for kids who are being picked on.  It was a great week.
