Storyteller Donald Davis

Submitted by doug.lai on

Spring Lake Students had the pleasure of listening to Donald Davis as he is on 9-week tour telling stories. He is a staple for the Timpanogos Story Telling Festival. He shared some stories from his childhood with students, then met with fifth-grade students and talked about how to develop stories. Make sure you have the problem, people, places, and progress that make the pictures in your mind. https://timpfest.org/

Donald Davis was born in a Southern Appalachian mountain world rich in stories. While he heard many traditional stories about Jack and other heroic characters, he was most attracted to the stories of his own family and places of origin.  Davis begin retelling the stories he heard and then adding his own new stories to them until he was repeatedly asked to "tell it again, on purpose."
