PBS Reading Marathon

PBS KIDS Reading Marathon

The PBS KIDS Reading Marathon is taking place during the month of November. Children (ages preschool - 6th grade) are encouraged to read 20 minutes per day or 600 minutes total throughout the month. From December 1-15 parents will then go on to our PBS website and log their minutes for AMAZING prizes around town during 2022!  

Each Reading Marathon participant will receive a personalized Adventure Pass which will give them the following:

FREE entrance to Hogle Zoo
FREE entrance to Red Butte Garden

Virtual Family Mental Health Night

As the pandemic’s unseen costs begin to unfold on the mental health front, some wonder how school children will be impacted. Despite the massive challenge we face, there are growing resources to help families who are struggling. Virtual FamilyMental Health Night–Talk to a Therapist .  Nebo School Distric tis partnering with The Cook Center for Human Connection to host a free virtual Family Mental Health night on November3, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Participants will hear from a leading clinical psychologist, be able to ask questions, and learn about free resources available. 

Pumpkin Pictures

Mrs. Cofie’s class has made these neat-looking pumpkin pictures. I think that they are really, nice and that they put a lot of time into them. It looks like they used chalk oil pastels. It looks like they had fun making them.

Bookmarks

On Oct 5, 2021 we made bookmarks on TinkerCad.  First,  we had to download a lot of things and put them on TinkerCad.  I did a cat silhouette and put "text" on it, saying "IZZY".  Then I put the color green on it and sent it to Mr.Lai.  Last, he printed it to give to me.

Pumpkin Character Book Reports

Third grade students have made fun character pumpkins for their book reports. You can tell that they put a lot of time into them because they look like they are well detailed. Here are a few that they made: Dogman, Greg from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Cat in the Hat, etc. It looks like they had a fun time making them.

Cool Art

One person from every grade got picked for making an amazing piece of art about fire safety!  All of them got to see a real fire truck! Wow! The school issued  a  coloring page and all of these students excelled in coloring this and they got a wonderful surprise. Remember, this whole exercise was to induce safety.

Spring Lake Hawk Squad Attend BYU Leadership Conference

 It was a dark and stormy morning. All fifteen fifth graders awoke groggy because it was 6:00 am and they were attending the leadership conference! They went to BYU, a private college that focuses on determination and leadership. All of the fifth graders that attended learned a very valuable leadership skill and opportunity to make themselves better.
