Spring Lake Elementary
School Rules
The most important school-wide rule is to be courteous and considerate of others.
Playground Rules
- Follow directions the first time they are given.
- In good weather, students should be outside, not loitering in the halls or restrooms.
- Students will use common sense and good judgment while playing on the playground.
- Play in areas away from classrooms where students are still in class.
- Treat the playground supervisors respectfully.
- Never throw snowballs, ice, rocks, sticks or similar object.
- Do not throw or kick balls toward the building. Only kick balls on the lawn area.
- Avoid wet or muddy areas.
- Use playground equipment the way that it was intended to be used.
- Do not climb on the fences, awnings, basketball standards, trees, etc.
- Avoid games that could be dangerous.
- Return to class promptly when the bell rings.
- No fighting.
- No riding of skateboards, roller blades, or bicycles on school property.
- Use appropriate language, including no swearing.
- Stay away from lawn sprinklers or any other janitorial equipment.
- Students may not take P.E. equipment outside before school begins.
- Those students who come to school early will go to the gym. Unless going to breakfast.
Guidelines For Recess When Inside
- Follow directions the first time they are given.
- Walk-don’t run in the halls and in the classroom.
- No loitering in the halls or in the bathrooms. The option of being inside will only be available during the winter months and during rainy weather in the fall and spring. A student may stay inside if they have a note from home or medical reason.
- When in the classroom, sit down, be quiet, with the door open, and the lights on.
- No bouncing of balls or tossing of balls or any other objects while in the classroom or in the halls.
When Using The Drinking Fountain
- Quietly wait you turn. No butting or letting other in line.
- No pushing or shoving. Keep your hands to yourself.
- Line up against the wall rather than blocking the hallway.
- Drink for a reasonable amount to time.
- Keep water where it belongs.
Rules For The Lunchroom
- Students will follow directions the first time they are given.
- Students will wait quietly in the hall while waiting to go into the lunchroom. Teachers will supervise them until they are in the lunchroom.
- Students will use quiet voices in the lunchroom.
- No food, candy, straws, etc. are allowed to leave the lunchroom.
- Keep food on trays. When finished with lunch, dispose of trays, straws, milk, silverware, and any other items appropriately.
- Soda pop can only be consumed with a home prepared lunch.
Rules For Restroom
- Students will use supplies and equipment correctly.
- There should be no vandalism of school property. Students will not climb on or under the stalls.
- Students will respect the rights of others.
- Students will use quiet voices so they do not disturb neighboring classes.
- Students should respect the privacy of other in the bathroom. Students should practice good hygiene and wash hands appropriately.
- Students need permission to use the bathroom during class time. Students should use their grade level restrooms.
