A Surprise Visit

Submitted by doug.lai on

Recent transplant to Payson Utah, Army Sergeant First Class Matthew Pettijohn recently made a surprise visit to his daughter’s school for a final reunion with his family before his deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. SFC Pettijohn is currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma Washington as part of the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team where he is the platoon sergeant for an intelligence analysis cell. This will be SFC Pettijohn’s fourth overseas assignment in his 12 years of service.

Sixth-grade Studies Egypt

Submitted by doug.lai on

Students in Mrs. Erica Fordiani's class at Spring Lake Elementary recently mummified one of their classmates as part of their unit on ancient Egypt. After pretending to take out his internal organs and then his brain through his nostrils, students wrapped and decorated him in amulets and a death mask. The "mourners" followed behind their newly mummified Pharaoh as they walked around the halls of the school (much to the delight of the other grades).
