A Slice of Summer

Tuesday, August 23, 2011, third grade students at Spring Lake Elementary celebrated being back to school by writing something they did over the summer. They shared a ‘Slice of Summer’. Afterwords, they went out to the playground to enjoy slices of watermelon. 

Spring Lake Elementary Honors Debbie Dockstader

Pictured is Craig Harvey from Horace Mann Insurance who came to present an award for outstanding classified employee. Faculty voted on who thought really makes a difference at the school. Debbie is always willing to help out in any way possible. She puts in long hours to see that the school runs smoothly and that everyone who enters feels welcome. She has served as the secretary for 5 years.

6th Grade Orchestra

The sixth grade orchestra conducted by Mrs. Emily Fringer played songs for students during the character ed assemblies. They have been practicing three times a week for half of the year. They have learned a lot in a short time and sounded great. “We hope it will be twice as big next year!” said Mr. Sainsbury, the school principal.

March Madness

Students learned that reading really does pay. In conjunction with March Madness students were drawn out to win cash by shooting baskets. They could enlist teachers or friends to help shoot. Congratulations to those that were chosen.
