Book Selfies
Students worked in groups to fit themselves into pictures with book covers. Some of them were really creative.

On February 16th Mr. Daybell called down students of the month. They got to enjoy pizza, and went home with a certificate and movie coupon. Congrats to the following:
The 4-6 grade students at Spring Lake Elementary were visited by J. Scott Savage, author of The Farworld series and The Fires of Invention. He showed a book trailer of his newest book, which got the students excited about reading. Together, they practiced writing an adventure story, and discussed the importance of creativity. They left the assembly inspired to write!
Students thought about what they like to on starry nights. Then made their own pictures just like Vincent Van Gogh.
This Wednesday, February 24 is an early out day. All students Kindergarten-6th grade will get out at 12:00pm. There will be no afternoon Kindergarten. Kindergarten students who ride the bus will be dropped off at the same bus stop that they are picked up from in the morning. A reminder that there will not be robotics this Wednesday because of the early out.
Thanks,
Mr. Daybell
On Monday, February 22, you will be receiving an email from Nebo School District asking you to complete a survey asking for your opinion about the effectiveness of Spring Lake Elementary, teachers, and principal. We want to hear what you have to say! Please help us by giving your feedback and filling out the survey between Feb. 22 and March 6.
Thanks,
Mr. Daybell
The 6th graders at Spring Lake Elementary learned about convection currents by making and launching their own hot air balloons. In a STEM focused activity, students were able to engineer these balloons without patterns or instruction. With the help of BYU on launch day, they were able to see how well their hot air balloons flew. Some parents were able to attend the launch and were excited about what their children were learning. The students loved designing, building and flying!
Students wore their spirit colors because kindness is a great way to show your school spirit! The PTA also provided kindess cards for each student so they could brighten someone's day.
Students wore all kind of great hats!
**Coins for Kindness** TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY! PLEASE SEND SOME COINS WITH YOUR CHILD.
Wednesday students came to school with some crazy hair!
