Why did you decide to become a teacher?: I have always loved teaching kids! I couldn't wait to grow up and have my own kids. Once I did, I enjoyed doing daycare, and then doing a neighborhood preschool for my youngest daughter, and always wished it was my week to teach. When she went to school, I got a job as a Special Ed Technician at her school. I moved with one little boy from kindergarten through third grade. As I did that job it suddenly occurred to me that I could actually become a teacher, with my own class! So I did. It took me a long time to get here, but I'm so thankful I am here!
How long you been teaching?: I have been teaching for 12 years!
College: UVU, and then SUU for my Masters
Hometown: I grew up in Santaquin, then lived in Payson for 25 years.
Something not many people know about you: Not much probably! I am an open book, if I have a thought it is on my tongue and out there! On the rare occasions I don't blurt it right out, you can read it on my face anyway. haha
I love teaching...: I LOVE teaching! I love listening to these kids, and reading their writing. I am fascinated and delighted by their thoughts, their kindness, their compassion, their ideas, and by their diversity.
During the summer I like to...: I like to travel any chance I get. I like to spend time with my family! This finally includes my first grandbaby! I can't wait to spend time with him this summer.
If calories didn't count I would eat/drink...: Oh shoot...they count?! (Coke, Carbs, Chocolate, the three C's!)
Favorite book or movie: So many favorites...Today I'll say The Book Thief, and Terms of Endearment
Teacher Quote: “Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.”
― R.J. Palacio, Wonder
