On Thursday April 18th Spring Lake Elementary held its annual spelling bee for third-grade students. Four students were selected from each class spelling bee to compete. These 12 went through over 130 words to find a champion. This years winner was Luke LeFevre, second place Jerzee Farnsworth, and Amber Anderson took third place. Thanks to Zions Bank of Payson, and The Spanish Fork Rotary Club who donated dictionaries to third-grade students.
On April 12th Spring Lake students celebrated March Madness. During the month of March students that read for at least 5 days each week put their name in for a drawing to shoot for money. One student from each class was chosen. Students then had friends and faculty help them shoot baskets for 30 seconds from different marks on the court to win money. Remember it pays to read. On Friday March 29th Third-grade students went on a field trip to the Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City. They got to visit exhibits that showed about native people from Utah, as well as ecosystems, habitats, animals, and a great dinosaur exhibit. Thanks to Museum Donors and the Utah State Office of Education that made it possible for us to attend and all the parents that helped chaperon.
