Submitted by jeremy.barber on Thu, 02/25/2021 - 07:38

This week Governor Herbert came to SpringLake to talk to the fifth graders.  We got to dress in nice clothes and go to the gym and listen to him talk to us about his years as the Governor of Utah.  The rest of the school had the opportunity to watch his visit on Zoom.    Thank you Governor Herbert!

I-Ready SuperBowl Contest

Submitted by jeremy.barber on Thu, 02/18/2021 - 11:55

This year’s I-Ready Super Bowl Contest was so much fun.

This year we had class winners for highest minutes on I-Ready, and we had individual MVP’s for the most lessons passed and the highest minutes completed!  The students were engaged and excited each day as they walked down the hall and looked at the scoreboard…but why did we do it, and what really mattered in the end?

Today all the students at Spring Lake participated in a Virtual assembly from the Boys and Girls Club of Utah call NetSmartz.

We were taught about being smart on the Internet.  Creating positive digital habits and having a good balance of technology in our lives.

NOVA - Nurturing Opportunities Values Principles

N.O.V.A is an activity the fifth-grader gets to learn about drugs and how to be healthy and make the right decisions. The teacher is really funny and nice. His name is Officer Keel and he likes to tell the fifth grader's police stories and he likes donuts. We have the class in the little theater. Officer keel lets us play fun games. Did you know N.O.V.A stands for nurturing opportunities value and accountability.

Staying six feet apart hasn't stopped our Spring Lake Hawks from enjoying lunchtime.  We are so proud of our Hawks for the extra steps taken this year.
