Box Tops From Around The World

Submitted by doug.lai on

Congratulations to Lilly Hilton. She is the winner of our November Box Tops contest - Where are they coming from? Lilly received Box Tops from Byford, Australia which is 9,762 miles from Payson, UT. Be sure and check out our map located next to the take-home library.

Many thanks to all those who participated in our November Box Tops contest. It was very fun to see where Box Tops could come from - Hong Kong, Poland, Belgium, etc. If you had family and friends participate, please be sure to thank them on behalf of the Spring Lake PTA.

Shrunken Heads

Submitted by doug.lai on

From our Spring Lake Headhunters.
Watch out!  Our Spring Lake Headhunters created shrunken heads, from apples.
Students started with an apple, peeled it, and then carved a face into it. After the apple was dried they discovered that their heads had morphed into totally different face.
Students decided what their face could be and began creating the finished product. Great Job Spring Lake head hunters.

Attack Of The Aliens

Submitted by doug.lai on

Students created Aliens using a toilet paper towel roll and construction paper. Each Alien had certain requirements in order to be shown in the hall. Aliens had to have arms, feet, and a whole lot of creativity, I believe they did just that in this display of Attack of the Aliens.

Kindergarten Headbands

Submitted by doug.lai on

In kindergarten we had each kindergartner and their family work together to find a Native American name that was a positive descriptive of him or her. (For examples: Smiles with Eyes or Kicking Deer.) Then to celebrate Thanksgiving all the kindergartners made Native American headbands with their special names written on them.

Tom Wood Visits Third-grade Students

Submitted by doug.lai on

Third-grade has had the opportunity for Mr. Tom Wood to come and share his talents with the students. He is a District Art Specialist for Nebo School District and has taught for many years. Students learned how to draw people in motion.  It was integrated with a story we read in language arts.  He also did an art project involving science when he had students work on drawing a small and large environment.  The students had a great time.
