Spring Lake Elementary loves to read! During the month of February students have been reading, reading, reading, to try and meet their grade level reading goal. The school celebrated the completion of the reading goals with a school wide read-a-thon.
Spring Lake shows how much they care during Kindness Week. During this week students focus on standing up against bullying and being kind to each other no matter our differences. The theme for the week was: We may all “BEE” different, but in this HIVE we all BUZZ together with kindness! Monday was BEE a HERO by “BEE”ing kind. Students dressed up as their hero. On Tuesday students wore silly shoes and socks to “BEE” kind and STAND UP against bullying. Wednesday was HAT’s off to “BEE”ing kind.
A small touring group comprised of Ballet West company dancers and a narrator put on an amazing presentation called “Ballet and The Nutcracker.” The program is designed to give children the opportunity to experience how the basic elements of dance, music and the visual arts combine into a presentation. The students learned a little of the history of ballet and the dancers explained aspects of their professional careers, such as daily practice, appreciation of music, good posture, basic positions, technique, and dedication to their work.

First-grade: Josephyn Webber, Zachary Wright, Hannah Hurst, Tyler Carrick, Mason John, Elizabeth Cuddeback, Sophie Smith, Krew Frost, Eli MIller, and Sofi Vasquez.
Congratulations to Mrs. Taylors class!! They were our top Sumdog class for the Utah County Sumdog Contest. They win a FREE subscription to Sumdog which means they can play ALL the games on Sumdog!!! Mr. Atkin’s class was 2nd place and Mrs. Garner’s class placed 3rd.
Spring Lake Hawks have school spirit! Spring Lake Elementary has a new school song and cheer. Each month students sing the school song and the school spirit cheer can be heard throughout the school on Friday mornings. Thank you PTA for helping Spring Lake have school spirit. Go Hawks!

Second-grade: Remie Worthen, Caleb Atkin, Zachary Hughes, Bentley Davis, Lexi Moore, Ty Erdmann, Emma Hill, Kyle Bassir, Haley Howard, Stetson Lance, Tyler Kitchen, Syliss Liddiard, and Abigayle Snow.
The student council loved the time they were able to spend with the residents of the Payson Veteran’s Home right before Christmas. Their blankets, cards, and carols were all well received. This was a great experience for everyone!
Spring Lake Elementary's first term student council did an amazing job! We'd like to thank them for all their help with spirit days and the PTA, the annual food drive, making and donating blankets, visiting the Veteran's home, recycling, doing announcements in the morning, and being role models for the school.
