Kenny Probst Receives Spring Lake Elementary School's Classified Employee Crystal Apple Award!               This year’s classified employee Crystal Apple Award was presented to Kenny Probst. Mr. Probst, the head custodian, is a “Jack of all Trades” at Spring Lake. He is a very positive influence to all students, parents, and faculty. He is always there to lend a helping hand. He provides mechanical help when employees need assistance with their vehicles. He spends many hours above and beyond the regular school day seeing that all is ready for the next day ahead. He is the friendly lunchroom friend that always helps sing “Happy Birthday” and cleans up messes. He gets balls off the roof, takes care of unwanted bugs in classrooms, adjusts clocks and just makes Spring Lake a great place to be! Congratulations to Mr. Probst for the wonderful recognition.

Sculpture Comes to Life at Spring Lake Elementary               Spring Lake Elementary students in Payson, under the direction of their art teacher, Mrs. Howard, took their favorite cartoon characters and made them come alive through sculpture. Mickey Mouse, Oscar, Mario and Kevin, from the movie “UP’, were some of their favorite characters. Wire, newspaper, and paper mache were used to create the sculptures, with tissue, fabric, and other materials to create the final product. The sculptures will be donated to the school library, where all who enter will enjoy the hard work of the students. Village Inn Outstanding Teacher Award

Submitted by kathleen.ware on
Village Inn Outstanding Teacher Award   After receiving a surprise phone call during school, Mrs. Marie Mitchell (Spring Lake Elementary, Payson) found out she was the recipient of a special parent-nominated award – The Village Inn Outstanding Teacher Award.    The excitement was mutual as the Provo Village Inn manager presented Mrs. Mitchell with a certificate inside a case, the nominating letter, and a free meal for both she and her husband. One of the many positive comments from the nomination letter was, “Mrs. Mitchell lives for her kindergarten class! She is such an amazing teacher. She devotes all her time and awesome talents to make sure all of her students learn.” Teachers don’t often get recognition of this type, so when it comes it makes all those extra hours and effort feel more appreciated.  Mrs. Mitchell says, “Thanks ‘Mom’ and Village Inn.”
