Teacher Feature

Submitted by celeste.penick on

Spring Lake Elementary had a surprise visit from KSL NewsRadio and Zions Bank.  One of our very own Spring Lake Elementary teachers, Perry Ewell, was nominated and selected  as an outstanding teacher and awarded the “Teacher Feature.”  The “Teacher Feature” program recognizes teachers who have gone the extra mile and made a significant impact on the lives of those they teach.  Hundreds of teachers are submitted for the “Teacher Feature” and just one is selected each week.  Mr.

Everything Is Awesome

Submitted by doug.lai on

Students at Spring Lake Elementary kicked off the year in Mrs. Candi Higley's Art Class by creating self-portraits portrayed as Lego people. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade colored, decorated and creatively shared who they are and what they like to do. Everyone is awesome! Everyone is cool at Spring Lake Elementary School!!

Tarantula Up Close

Submitted by doug.lai on

In fourth grade one of our science objectives is to learn about Utah's animals and the biomes they live in. One student brought in a wild tarantula. We were able to discuss it's food, and habitat. The brave students even got a chance to experience tarantulas up close. Even though the experience led to a few scared children, no one was bitten or hurt in any way, including Hairy (our tarantula). All the kids will have a memory they will remember for a very long time.

Fossil Hike

Submitted by doug.lai on

Our fourth-graders went hiking this month to Red Point. It is about a mile away from our school where the students can find fossils. They are small crustaceans and things like that. They also got to play on the large sandy hill on the way back. Students are usually able to find one or two fossils each. Miss Stephens who is one of our fourth grade teachers has been skunked for five years in a row. It may be because she spends the entire time telling students "Yes this is a fossil, or no this isn't.” We had a lot of fun finding fossils.

Spring Lake Elementary Patriotism

Submitted by celeste.penick on

Spring Lake Elementary is a patriotic school!   Each school week at Spring Lake begins with a school wide singing of the national anthem and reciting of the pledge.  Throughout the year students and faculty join together in gratitude to honor and remember those who have dedicated themselves to ensure our freedoms. On Constitution Day the entire school gathers around the flagpole for a flag ceremony presented by the scouts.
