On September 9th, 2011, Fifth-grade students participated in the annual Spring Lake Battle Boot Camp at Memorial Park in Payson.

This is a team building field trip with group activities.

The stations were:

Fitness Training:  A multiple-skill obstacle course.

Catch the Spy:  A version of "Capture the Flag" in the trees P.O.W. Escape:  "Spider Web" team building activity Watchtower Engineering: Worked in groups of 3-4 and built towers out of spaghetti. Following Orders: Scavenger Hunt Troop Transport: Each member of a group swings across a "river" on a rope to a pallet "island." Mobilizing the Troops:  A "trolley" race About Face: Student line up on a curb and silently rearrange themselves. The culminating event after lunch was a Flour Bomb War. Two armies were established with two generals with three regiments (lieutenants) each with two medics.  Officers were given time to plan strategies and the war began.  After three rounds everyone was covered in flour and had a great time. The students then marched back to base (Spring Lake Elementary) where they made it just in time to head home to tell their tale to everyone!!!
