The fifth-grade classes at Spring Lake Elementary recently enjoyed a fantastic field trip to the State Capitol in Salt Lake City on February 19, 2016. The students were able to view the beautifully renovated capitol building and were awed by its architecture and grandeur. They enjoyed learning about the vital work that goes on at the Capitol for our state’s citizens. While there, students had an opportunity to see the state legislature in action by observing in both the senate and house galleries. Students were recognized on the floor for being in attendance by Representative Marc Roberts. Mr. Roberts later took the time to meet with students, share his experiences and answer questions about working in government. In addition, students participated in a scavenger hunt which allowed them to explore and become more familiar with the capitol building. The day ended with the students being given a private tour of the building. This field trip served as a wonderful culmination for their Constitution unit.
