Fossil Hike

Submitted by doug.lai on

Spring Lake's 4th grades went fossil hunting Tuesday. They found lots of great fossils and even saw a few wildlife friends. The kids had tons of fun playing in the sand and looking for fossils, but the highlight was definitely the spider. We found a tarantula on our hike and if parents were willing, kids got to hold it. Mr. Atkin even gave it a kiss. It is learning experiences like these that kids will remember for the rest of their lives. Other then of few stickers, the field trip was a huge success.

A Visit From A Story Teller

Submitted by doug.lai on

On October 9, 2015 Spring Lake had the wonderful opportunity to hear from one of the best story tellers,  Charlotte Blake Alston.  She captivated us with her talent, and students really enjoyed their time listening to her.  After listening to her stories, students are excited to share stories that they have written in class.  Thanks for coming Charlotte, and helping us get excited to write stories and share them with others.

The Westing Game

Submitted by doug.lai on

Mrs. Crook's class read the book The Westing Game as a class. At the end of the book, students chose from a list of possible projects to show their understanding of the book. Some made character puppets, wanted posters, newspaper articles, and obituaries.  It was a fun project!
