Who Wants to be an Opera Star?

Submitted by doug.lai on

Who wants to be an opera star?  The students at Spring Lake were introduced to the art form of opera in a fun filled display of talent from Utah Opera.  Utah Opera taught the students about voice types, arias, duets, trios, and quartets using the framework of a television game show.  The students experienced the elements of opera as Utah Opera Artists performed selections of well-known operas.  Spring Lake students were enthusiastic in using their newly learned vocabulary word (BRAVO!)  to express a job well done to the Utah Opera Artists.

Last week, our kindergarten students were visited by Mountain America Credit Union who awarded Mrs. McFarland a grant for $1,500! Additional funds will be matched by the Nebo Foundation and will allow us to purchase alternative seating for both of our kindergarten classes. We are so grateful to our community partners for supporting our school.

Mr. Shaw

Submitted by doug.lai on

Mr. Shaw spends each morning on outside recess duty. The students love to play the fun games he has going while they wait for school to start. He does pull-up competitions, basketball shoot out, and he tests the students math skills on our hundreds chart. The students look forward to competing each morning and he always rewards students with high fives and positive praise for trying their very best. We are so blessed to have him at our school to support our staff and help our students reach their full potential.
