Attack Of The Aliens

Submitted by doug.lai on

Students created Aliens using a toilet paper towel roll and construction paper. Each Alien had certain requirements in order to be shown in the hall. Aliens had to have arms, feet, and a whole lot of creativity, I believe they did just that in this display of Attack of the Aliens.

Kindergarten Headbands

Submitted by doug.lai on

In kindergarten we had each kindergartner and their family work together to find a Native American name that was a positive descriptive of him or her. (For examples: Smiles with Eyes or Kicking Deer.) Then to celebrate Thanksgiving all the kindergartners made Native American headbands with their special names written on them.

Tom Wood Visits Third-grade Students

Submitted by doug.lai on

Third-grade has had the opportunity for Mr. Tom Wood to come and share his talents with the students. He is a District Art Specialist for Nebo School District and has taught for many years. Students learned how to draw people in motion.  It was integrated with a story we read in language arts.  He also did an art project involving science when he had students work on drawing a small and large environment.  The students had a great time.

Turkey Gobbling Contest

Submitted by doug.lai on

Monday November 19th, Spring Lake Elementary hosted its annual Turkey Gobbling Contest. Classes held individual contests to select a winner.  All classroom winners then performed on the stage for the whole student body.  Our student council had the tough decision of picking a winner from lower and upper grades. This years winners were Reagan Kelly from Mrs. Meagan Harman’s second-grade class, and Reigan Wheeler from Mrs. Hailey Poulsen’s sixth-grade class.

As part of celebrating Thanksgiving, third-grade students enjoyed turkey bowling. They tried to knock over 2 liter bowling pins with a frozen cornish game hen. It was a lot of fun!

All students enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast.  To prepare for the event, students made special placemats to eat on and parents helped make pilgrim and indian hats. After lunch, students enjoyed slices of pumpkin pie with whipped cream thanks to parent donations. Thanks to all those who helped make this a success.
