Growing Cabbage

Submitted by doug.lai on

Over the summer Spring Lake Third-grade students took part in growing cabbages at home with the hopes of winning a scholarship from Bonnie Plants. They were each provided with one plant. It was amazing to see the pictures coming in from those that took care of them all summer. Someone is going to be eating a lot of coleslaw.

The first day was fullof excitement especially when it came time to decorate the giant gingerbread cookie. After adding the finishing touches of frosting, jelly beans and gummy bears the kidswent out for recess. While at recess the gingerbread man ran away! The kindergartnersspent the next four days chasing him around the school. They learned all about theirsurroundings and had lots of fun at the same time. Welcome Back Spring Lake Elementary

Submitted by doug.lai on

On August 20th, 2012 Students and parents came back to school, a day early. Teachers hosted three 20 minute rotations for welcoming students and talking with parents about what would be taught this year. Principal Spencer Sainsbury was excited to see new and old faces coming through the doors. “Participation at our back to school night was about 95%.” Now two weeks into school our kindergarteners have joined us, and all we have left are the preschool students to be complete.  Preschool will begin next week.
