Six-grade Enjoys a Medieval Festival

Students in the sixth-grade classes were able to participate in a Medieval festival on January 24th. The activities included jousting, catching rocks (marshmallows) thrown from catapults, and dining like a King. They also learned about clothing in the Middle Ages, Crusades, wooden and mud homes, and armor.

Spring Lake Elementary Celebrate the 100th day of School

Spring Lake Elementary was excited to celebrate the 100th day of school. The PTA provided all students with a new pencil and eraser. Many students brought in a 100 items as part of their class activity. Students made hats and had many fun activities. There were also some interesting second-grade teachers that looked like they were a hundred years old.

Spring Lake Third-Graders Celebrate Chinese New Year

Third-grade students welcomed in the year of the Dragon as they celebrated Chinese New Year. Students read in class about how a girl named April and her family live in America. They made lanterns and learned some Chinese characters. Friday they enjoyed eating with chopsticks, opening a fortune cookie, learning about what year they were born in and went home with a red envelope.

Fourth-Grade Students Play Basketball Against Teachers As Reading Incentive

December 9th, was the day of the big game. Teachers teamed up to
tackle the top 20  readers in the fourth grade.  Students from Mr.
Atkin, Miss Stephens, Mrs. Ray and Miss Evans class played a
basketball game against their teachers as a reward for working on
their reading all during the month of November. The total reading
minutes, for fourth grade, for the month of November, was around
80,000 minutes. Even though the students lost the game the gym was

Sixth-grade Annual Christmas Program

Monday, December 19th, the sixth-grade performed their annual Christmas Program.  With the help from Mrs. Davies and Mrs. Anderson and their music abilities, the students danced, sang, and acted the story ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. They performed for the student body in the morning and then had an afternoon performance for parents.
